I wanted to write something to give you a little insight into who I am, allow you the opportunity to get to know me a little better and as an effort to personally connect with you, my fans.
I often find this industry can be so impersonal and I wanted to change that. I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me and motivating me to follow my dreams. I am so grateful for all your smiling faces, likes, shares and kind words before or after a show. Thanks for clicking on this and if you’re still reading thanks for caring!
As you know, my name is Amber Fieldgate and I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. I recently turned 20 and I’m happy to no longer be a teenager but this really is a strange age. Half of my friends are in serious relationships and working jobs and the other half are getting blackout drunk and trying to pass their Varsity degrees. I’m somewhere in the middle.
I have a serious boyfriend named Bryce and we’ve been dating for just over a year and a half, he’s pretty cool (as you can see…)
I’m also in second year studying Psychology at the university of Pretoria. I love my degree as it entails so much more than just learning – I currently volunteer at an home for the elderly and plan on doing a counselling course next year.
I live in Pretoria with my roommate; she’s also pretty cool. We’re very similar so it works well. We both enjoy staying in and watching movies and occasionally squeaking a takkie at Pretoria’s finest bars (there are maybe only 2 bars).
On weekends I go home to Joburg to visit my parents but mostly my pets. I have a dog called Coco who is my absolute favorite. She’s a chow cross lab and is so sweet. I also have a Persian cat called Wilbur (don’t ask, my dad named him). He’s super cute but kind of rude and hates most people but I still force him to cuddle me despite his protests.
I attend weekly singing lessons with Jolanda Bekker from the Jolanda Bekker Vocal Lab. She is incredible, so talented and hard working and she always pushes me to be the best. I try to write new music when I can.
I also try to be outdoors as much as possible because nature calms me and helps me organize my thoughts. I especially enjoy parks because there is a sneaky possibility I could come across a dog or two.
That’s pretty much it I guess. Other than that, I try to have balance among all the aspects of my life. I have to admit though, music is my favourite part without a doubt.
Amber Fieldgate 🙂
